Warren Rehwaldt, MD

Dr. Warren Rehwaldt, a Midwestern native, completed his medical school training from the University of Minnesota in 1989. He met his future wife, Dr. Katrina Groves, while completing his family practice residency in San Bernardino, California. Together they moved to de Norte County in 1992 where he served for 5 years as the first full time physician for United Indian Health services in Del Norte County. He went into private practice for 4 years, eventually joining the Open door team in 1999. from 2001-2005, he served both as the county Public Health Officer and staff physician at the Del Norte community health center. He worked tirelessly in the community to maintain quality care during the severe provider shortage in Del Norte County. Dr. Rehwaldt became the Site Medical Director of DNCHC in 2005 and has been heavily involved in recruitment and development plans for the beautiful new Open Door facility in Del Norte County, the Wellness Center. He has served as vice chief of staff twice for Sutter Hospital and remains active there. His professional interests include Adult and Geriatric Medicine, as well as Pediatrics, and his main role in the last 2 years has been to provide hospital care for all ages.
His personal interests include music (he plays a variety of stringed instruments and is a member of the local orchestra), reading, cooking, salmon and steelhead fishing, and just about anything that can be done outside – but mostly spending as much time as possible with his children!
