Daniel graduated from the School of Medicine, Oregon Health and Science University, Portland, Oregon, with a Master of Physician Assistant Studies and from Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, with a B.S. in Forest Ecology.

Daniel received the National Health Service Corp Scholar award, which is a competitive national scholarship from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded to students committed to providing primary health care in underserved communities.
