Stephen Kamelgarn, M.D.

Dr Kamelgarn moved to Humboldt County in 1983 after completing his residency in Family Medicine at UC Davis/Merced. Since being up here he has practiced in a variety of settings including working for the VA, private practice, working at HSU and for the Humboldt County Health Dept..

He has the “dubious” distinction of having received degrees from 4 different University of California campuses (UCLA, UC San Diego, UC Davis and UC Santa Cruz), and he has taught biology at HSU. He spent several years studying marine mammals, and it still remains an area of lively interest for him. He is involved with the teaching of both Nurse Practitioner students and medical students.

For the past 10 years he has served as the editor-in-chief of the Humboldt-Del Norte County Medical Society’s publications, including their annual directory, monthly newsletter and internet Web Site: www.humboldt1.com/~medsoc

When not working he enjoys taking and manipulating art photographs, and he’s had a number of exhibitions in this area. He also enjoys traveling with his wife to Europe, exploring the local beaches and hiking in the local forests.
