Alicia Ruiz de OleaAlicia is our promotora de salud (community health worker) who has been with the Latino Health Promotion Project since it began. She grew up in Mexico City and moved to Fortuna, CA 12 years ago. She received her Nursing Degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico and practiced nursing for 5 years in Mexico before moving to the US. She has also taken nursing courses at the College of the Redwoods and is studying for her LVN certification. Alicia is the proud mother of 3 wonderful kids and is an amazing cook. The staff of MMO LOVES her chili rellenos. Alicia loves to serve her community and is very proud of her heritage and culture. She would like to thank her husband for always supporting her in striving for her goals.
